What is a Stroked Engine?

With the help of a stroker kit, you are able to increase the displacement, and subsequently the power of your engine.

Basic Stroker Kit

Your basic stroker kit will generally include a stroked crankshaft, piston rings & pins, connecting rods, and the main rods and bearings. A basic kit is a good way to squeeze a little extra power out of your existing engine and depending what you'll be using the car for, there are a several different materials kits are available in. Depending on the supplier, these kits may be available in steel, titanium, forged or cast parts.

Advantages

A stroker kit will increase your overall power output and the power can be obtained throughout the lower RPM range.

Disadvantages

As a kit will make the distance your pistons have to travel further yet the time in which it's able to do so is the same, this is a cause of quicker piston wear in stroked motors.

If a larger stroker kit is installed your engine's performance in the high RPM ranges can be affected negatively.

Why go for the stroker?

After reading this you may think, well, why should I get a stroker kit when it affects my peformance in the high RPM range? The answer is-- it's entirely dependent on what you're after. If you want low RPM and off the line performance, a stroker kit is perfect for you. If you're wanting to kick it up to in the high RPM range, there are other options available for you such as high-RPM kits.
